This site offers my April/May 2002 journey of buying a 1989 Porsche 944 n/a (normally aspirated or non-turbo or non-S or non-S2). The 1989 2.7 liter engine has 162hp on hand. Previous 944 n/a models motored with 2.5 liters at either 150hp or 158hp. The 1989 944 n/a is the largest normally aspirated Porsche 944 manufactured in the 2-point-whatever liter range. (In late 1989, a 3.0 liter 944 S2 was produced.) Check out this useful chart (see "Model Outline") for engine specifications of the 924-944-968. Ideally this site will serve at least two purposes: 1) to provide Porsche owners-to-be (or anyone who owns anything…or nothing:-) a thorough glance at yet another 944 model and the process of researching, buying and owning a Porsche…and a 944; and 2) to contribute to the Porsche universe - the company, the cars, enthusiasts - with text and images along with acknowledging the Web sites (and their creators) that provided me with a wide range of knowledge and images while investigating then buying a 944. The bottom line- 944s are very fun, eye-catching and durable/reliable machines that offer plenty of technology and driving thrill considering it's a mid- to late 1980's vehicle. One key to being a happy Porsche 944 owner is finding a good one. More details inside. My gratitude is offered to those who guided me to the world of Porsches. Enjoy.
